Dr. Burke was raised in Anaheim, California and attended Valencia High School in Placentia. He did his undergraduate work at University of California Santa Barbara majoring in chemical engineering. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at UCLA in 1986. After dental school Dr. Burke served as a General Practice resident for one year at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco. Here, he served as the hospital dentist and completed coursework/rotations in oral surgery, internal medicine, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics, and removable prosthodontics. Upon completion of this residency, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama to complete a three year specialty residency in orthodontic at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). While earning the specialist certificate, he also completed a Master of Science degree through the graduate school. His master’s thesis was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 1992.
Dr. Burke returned to Southern California in 1990 and served as an associate orthodontist in several private practices. In 1991 he opened his own private practices in both Temecula and Lake Elsinore. He served as a part time clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Dentistry from 1993-2000 and in 2001 he earned his board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, The Tri-County Dental Society, and the San Diego Academy of Orthodontics Study Club. He lives in Temecula with his wife Suzonne, his daughter Summer, his son Austin, and the family dogs Maxwell and Dexter.
